Building a Safety Road Map for Cultured Meat and Seafood Products

A year ago, New Harvest and Vireo Advisors led one of our biggest initiatives yet to roadmap the safety of cell-cultured meat and seafood.

Producing cell-cultured meat and seafood is such a novel process that many questions about their safety remain unanswered.

Safety is universal, and the data that is needed to demonstrate it can be used worldwide. However, there is a lack of public data about the safety of these products. Addressing this major gap was the driving force that brought together individuals from 50 leading companies from around the world. This initiative generated a collective understanding of the manufacturing process, started a data-driven conversation around safety, and resulted in the recent publication of cell ag’s first safety paper.
